CREATING AND DELIVERING
LearningSpots offers an “Internet-like online education experience” without an actual Internet connection.
With LearningSpots, enabling "education anywhere" is possible at remote locations. Users with smartphones, tablets or laptops engage with multi-media rich online education content and curriculums
Curriculum created using CurrikiStudio is aggregated and synchronized to edge hardware located in remote areas of the world, that are connected to a satellite or a last mile wireless connection through a partner network.
This is what we call delivering education content to those living at the ‘edges’ of our world.
Because of the partnership with CurrikiStudio, in-country educators can create/digitize their approved curriculum and make that available to students they would like to reach that live in remote areas.
In the particular example below, once lessons are created on CurrikiStudio, course files are forwarded to the edge hardware that is installed anywhere within the satellite service area. The installation of the satellite dish is as easy as any direct-to-home entertainment satellite service. In other words, the installation is very simple.
Students, using a basic tablet, phone, or laptop, connect to the edge hardware that have the education content stored on them. A local Wi-Fi network (called “LearningSpots”) is created by the edge hardware itself, provides the student access to the stored education content.
In remote areas, students engage with education content as if they had access to reliable and high-speed Internet networks.
Our solution utilizes any satellite, but, LearningSpots has partnered within the Americas, Caribbean, Brazil, and the Sub-Saharan Africa with Eutelsat. For other parts of the world, based on the overall project requirements, additional satellite partnerships can be created to support the delivery of online education content to remote areas that have a need.HOW IT WORKS - DATA RETURN VIA 3RD PARTY NETWORK
Teachers create classes using CurrikiStudio online platform
Created content is uploaded to Noovo's content management/gateway management system (CMS/GMS)
Content is delivered via satellite to LearningSpots edge hardware and stored there for local access
Content is accessed via Wi-Fi through a smart device (phone, tablet, laptop)
Students interact with the content as if they are on the Internet (although they are NOT), using their smartphone, tablet, or laptop.
Statistics, on what education content the student has watched and their progress with their courses, is captured and delivered back to the CurrikiStudio cloud through a low bandwidth (minimum 128kbps) fixed or wireless connection

NOTE: In addition to the above two deployment scenarios, we could install a LearningSpots on Service Provider's network, for example, a Telco PoP/Base Station, Wireless ISP (WISP) PoP/Base Station, a Cable company headend. We can also just synchronize education content via an Internet connection of at least 5mbps.
With all deployment scenarios, the student would access the education content that is delivered to the LearningSpots via their device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, or laptop) and have an 'online-like experience', without they themselves requiring to be on the Internet.
No matter where students are located, LearningSpots can find satellite coverage for almost any region of the world. Available data return connectivity via satellite (Ku or Ka Band) in the extreme remote areas is particularly important as we use the data return to collect user information, lesson assignments, quizzes and tests, and more.
